Good morning Diane! I think these are my two favorites so far on the topic (Hammock and Heiser, but I’m gonna see what else I can find today cuz I need an SGM break).
Good morning Kari! Hehe…one of my favorite subjects!
Hey! I read that one a few weeks ago! How’d you like it? Thoughts? I had a lot, but had to whittle it down so I don’t sound too much like a raving lunatic.
I agree with certain sentiments expressed about the Horns and the way a sector of the christian community has treated this subject, in that they want so bad to make the end times all about UFO’s, monsters, alien human hybrids, transgenics etc. they have an unhealthy focus on all things nephilim and the paranormal in general. They focus heavily on conspiracy and demons as well. The group is dispensational charismatic (generally speaking) so obviously so there are lots of interesting things being taught about the auntie christo and the unseen world. You know all this, I’m just thinking out loud.
I’ve made it no secret that I accept the fallen angel view of Genesis due to the reasons set forth in the Heiser video above and sermon 2 on the Sons of God and in the past have read several books by authors like Marzulli, Horn, Missler, Thomas and Flynn. WIth that being said, I believe the interpretation that these authors have of the end times scenario to be way off base. I guess I kind of think of the writings of people like Horn as the extra super sci fi version of Tim Lahay. Very very poor biblical teaching in general with the focus being more on the sovereignty of man and satan while God sits up in heaven with his hands tied.
I personally have no idea how the nephilim fit in today, but to make a truly seconday issue the main focus of your ministry seems a bit off no?
I appreciated the way Hammack presented both views thoroughly while treating this subject as a truly secondary issue in the above linked sermons and I appreciate the background information and argument Heiser gives for why he has come to the conclusion he has.
“If evolution happened, death was already occurring before man evolved. But if death came before man, and was not a consequence of Adam’s sin, then sin is a fiction. And if sin is a fiction, then why do we need Christ to save us from our sin?” Walt Brown
This is a very good series presenting the two prevailing views.

I’m stuck in moderation again. I forgot to log in.
Consider yourself unstuck!
Thanks Dawn and Kari. I read that Herescope before and now want to read it again and can’t wait to listen to the sermons.

Definitely a fun topic!
